Supported file types and processing

Which photo, video and audio formats work, what previews we make, and what happens to your originals.

Updated 4 November 2026

Your originals are never changed

Every file you upload is kept exactly as it was, byte for byte. Guests who download an original get the same file you uploaded. For viewing, we create separate previews and playback versions that load quickly on phones.

Supported formats

Type Formats What guests see
Photos JPEG, PNG, WebP, HEIC/HEIF, TIFF Fast previews, correctly rotated
Animations GIF and booth boomerangs An animated preview
Video MP4, MOV, WebM (common H.264 and HEVC files) A player that works in the browser, with a poster image
Audio MP3, WAV, M4A, AAC, OGG, FLAC A player with play, pause and seek. Audio never plays automatically

A file's extension doesn't guarantee that it will play: what matters is how it was encoded. We check the actual contents of each file, not just its name.

Files we can't preview

  • RAW camera files aren't supported for previews.
  • If a file is damaged or uses an encoding we can't convert, it gets a clear status instead of an endless spinner. Where it's safe, the original can still be downloaded.
  • Programs and script files are blocked. ZIP files can be delivered in transfers, but we never unpack them.

Location data

Photos from phones and cameras can contain location and other details. We remove location data from previews. Original downloads are untouched, so they may still contain it. If that matters for an event, remove the data before uploading.

Processing allowances

Each plan includes a number of new image previews and minutes of video and audio conversion per month. If you use them up, your originals stay downloadable and the dashboard explains when the allowance resets. We never quietly lower quality or delete originals to save space. See Trial, plans and usage.
