Cloud connections are being set up with Dropbox, Google and Microsoft, and will open once each provider has approved and we've tested them. Before they open, we'll publish exactly what each provider supports. This article explains how they will work, so you can plan ahead.
Connected or imported
When you add a cloud folder to an event, you'll choose one of two modes:
| Connected | Imported | |
|---|---|---|
| Where the originals live | In your cloud account | PhotoPostman makes its own copy |
| Uses your hosted storage | No | Yes |
| Follows changes in the folder | Yes | No, it's a one-time copy |
| Covered by 90-day recovery (paid plans) | No | Yes |
Only the folder you choose
You connect through the provider's own sign-in and approval screen. We ask for the narrowest access available, show which account and folder are linked, and never crawl your whole drive. You can reconnect or unlink at any time.
What happens when things change
- PhotoPostman never edits or deletes files in your cloud account.
- If you delete a file in the folder, it's hidden from the gallery.
- If you disconnect, connected galleries close until you reconnect or import the files.
Not a backup
Connected originals stay in your cloud account and are not backed up by PhotoPostman. The small previews we keep are not a copy of your originals. If a file is deleted from your cloud account, we can't restore it. If you need recovery, import the files instead.
iPad booths
iPad booth apps keep files in their own storage, which a desktop app can't watch. A cloud connection will be the way to deliver from most iPad booths, so check that your booth app can save to Dropbox, Google Drive or OneDrive.
