Every event has its own access settings on the Sharing & privacy tab.
Access modes
| Mode | Who can open the gallery | When to use it |
|---|---|---|
| Password-protected (recommended) | Anyone with the link and the password | Most events. Share the password separately from the QR code |
| Unlisted | Anyone with the link | Public events where convenience matters more than privacy. Links can be forwarded, so treat the gallery as visible to anyone |
| Organiser only | Only people with the private organiser link | Events where guests should not see the photos, or while you review |
Galleries are never listed in a public directory and are kept out of search engines. Link previews in messaging apps don't show photos before a gallery has been unlocked.
How gallery passwords work
- A gallery password is not an account password. Guests don't need an account.
- After entering the correct password, a guest stays signed in to that gallery on that device for up to 12 hours.
- Changing the password signs everyone out. Anyone who used the old password must enter the new one. Use this if a password has been shared too widely.
- Repeated wrong guesses are slowed down to protect the gallery.
Downloads, sharing and browsing
These are separate switches for each event:
- Downloads: lets guests download single originals, a selection, or the whole gallery as ZIP files.
- Sharing: shows share buttons in the gallery.
- Guest browsing: turn this off to close the gallery to guests without deleting anything.
These settings are enforced on our servers, not just by hiding buttons. If downloads are off, download requests are refused.
Hide individual files
In the Media tab you can hide a file from guests without deleting it, for example an unflattering photo. Hidden files stay visible to you and through the organiser link.
Something to remember
Files that someone has already downloaded can't be recalled. If a gallery should be private, use a password from the start.
