Sending files

Send files with a transfer

Send files without a gallery, using a private download page with a password and expiry date.

Updated 4 November 2026

A transfer is a simple, private download page for when a gallery isn't needed, for example sending a client their final files.

Create a transfer

  1. Open Transfers in the dashboard and choose New transfer.
  2. Give it a title and add files. You can upload new files or pick files already in your events. Files you reuse aren't uploaded or counted twice.
  3. Choose the recipient's language and add an optional message.
  4. Set a password (recommended) and an expiry: 7 days by default, up to 30 days.
  5. Copy the link, or enter email addresses to send it from PhotoPostman. Recipients never see who else received the link.

Recipients don't need an account.

Downloads

  • Recipients can download single files or everything as ZIP files.
  • ZIPs are prepared in the background. Large transfers are split into several ZIP files of up to 5GB each, and the page says how many there are. Each ZIP opens on its own, with no special software needed.
  • Downloads can be resumed if the connection drops.
  • The password and expiry are checked on every download.

Track and revoke

The transfer page shows when downloads start and finish. An email being opened or a link being clicked is not counted as a completed download.

You can revoke a transfer at any time. The link stops working straight away. Files that were already downloaded can't be recalled.

Programs and script files can't be sent. ZIP files you upload are delivered as they are and never unpacked.

When a transfer expires

Temporary ZIPs are deleted within 24 hours. On paid plans, hosted originals that aren't used by any active gallery or transfer go into the 90-day recovery archive. See Expiry, archive and recovery.
